Hundreds of phenomenal young women from the different communities in Aguata LGA on Friday, 7th March assembled at the Secretariat to celebrate the international Day for women.
The event which was tagged “AGUATA WOMEN SUMMIT 2025” had selected distinguished women whose job is set to inspire young women within the local government.
In a Keynote address, Dr Patience Ozokwor, MON (Mama G), A legendary Nollywood actress and nationally recognized icon, encouraged women to stand out among all. “Women can move mountains, women can do things unimaginable. Women are powerful, if you want to make a country great bring a woman into the governance. Nigeria is suffering because a woman is not on thrown. I want to urge all women to stand out because being a woman is a privilege from God”.
“Whatever you find yourself doing that is not against the will of God, government and society, continue and the blessings will be abundant”
The septuagenarian actress called on the women to be loyal, respectful to their husband and hold onto God, stressing that if God has shown her the light, any women who has embraced him will also recieve the grace.
Wife of the executive chairman, Mrs Chikaosoro Oforbuike in her welcome address said women are the world and without women the world wouldn’t be a better place. “We are here to celebrate women and we are gathered here in commemoration of women international women day and we welcome you all to enjoin hands and make Aguata a productive place for us. Women are the light of the world and the virtues of greatness lies with women”.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Ify Obinabo expressed happiness over the continued vital roles women play in the family, work place and society. She called on the women to hold firm while assuring them that Soludo’s administration will continue to support them.
Earlier speaking, Mayor, and Chairman Aguata LGA, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike said the event was targeted to celebrating women folks among our midst. “We are here to celebrate with our women and tell them that they are part of this government and also let you know we love and care for them. Women are doing wonders and we must support all women amd ensure that their place is safe and secured in Aguata”.
Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor – Wife of the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese explained that alot of challenges that face the family, society today are been solved by women. He maintained that women are pillars on which the society strive. “Despite what it is we want to combat them for a meaningful purpose. I call on you women to embrace christ who is the giver and saver of life, with his presence your burdens are lessened”. She assured.
His Lordship, Genevieve Osakwe – Chairperson, Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) and Chairperson Emeritus, Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA) urged women to be hard working and diligent of thier doings. “For you to live in a man’s world, you have to deliver upright, know your right so you will not be trampled upon. She called Anambra women to be knowledgeable of the VAAP law which gives them some protective rights as a woman.
Contributing, Pharm Chisom Uchem – Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Agency in her address called on women to always go for medical check up and maintain proper hygiene by eating healthy fresh food and apply cleanliness in their everyday life.
In the same vein, Chief Mrs Amaka Ezechiedo – CEO, Sparkles Event Limited noted that women in business is a vital importance as it has boosted economic growth in recent years. “There are so many things women have to do to make money. Every woman should be proud to be a woman. Your contributions to nations development cannot be over emphasised, keep the good works and at last success will be yours. We will continue to project our young people because for us, the future is the priority”.
