The Anambra State Police Command has foiled an alleged plot to murder a citizen and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
The breakthrough followed the strategic deployment of an intelligence-led policing approach by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips.
According to Police Police Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a press statement made available to newsmen on 13th August, 2026, said, “On the evening of 12 August 2026, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly moved to disrupt the alleged criminal plot.”
“The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects, namely Obiora Nwankwo, male, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, male, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, male, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, male, 37. The suspects were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi.”
Ikenga further disclosed that “During the operation, two firearms and live ammunition were also recovered.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly connected to a plot to murder a citizen and subsequently take over his landed properties.
Meanwhile, the Command is conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other persons who may be connected to the plot, and determine the specific roles allegedly played by each suspect.
“The suspects are currently in police custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law upon the conclusion of investigations, Ikenga noted.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, stated that the development underscores the effectiveness of the Command’s renewed intelligence-led policing strategy, which is aimed at detecting criminal threats at an early stage, disrupting planned attacks, and preventing the loss of lives and property.
The Commissioner further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents of Anambra State and ensuring that persons involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.
