Police Debunks False Security Alert Over Alleged Military Helicopter Activity

The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed as false a security alert circulating on social media alleging that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush located along the boundary between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Command’s spokesperson , SP Ikenga Tochukwu who confirmed this in a press statement dated 25th June, 2026, said “operatives were immediately deployed to the area following the report to verify the claim and assess the situation. Preliminary findings revealed that the location remains calm, with no suspicious objects or security threats detected.”

The Police further stated that normal activities are ongoing within and around the area, while security personnel continue routine surveillance to ensure public safety and maintain public confidence.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, urged members of the public to disregard the false alarm and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic and undermining confidence in the state’s security and Ndi Anambra.

The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders in maintaining peace and security across Anambra State.

He also encouraged residents to verify security-related information through official channels and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
