Congress of African Journalists, (CAJ) has uniamousely elected the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Christopher Isiguzo, as its Vice President.
The election held at the end of its first general meeting in Abuja, recently.
The executive elected for a three-year term, is charged with the responsibility of addressing issues affecting journalists and their organizations in Africa.
Speaking after the election, the president, Alexandre
Niyungeko reiterated that CAJ is an all inclusive platform aimed at ensuring the welfare of journalists.
He called on female journalists particularly, to join the congress and to lead on a number of programmes envisaged to address issues related to gender-based violence, sexual and verbal harassment, as well as online abuse and specific threats facing female journalists.
