Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged Anambra residents who enrolled for the Permanent Voter Cards to pick up their cards at designated venues to be fully prepared to take part in next year’s elections.

Mrs Soludo, who stated this in a statement released in Awka explained that while getting captured in the registration process is the first major step, getting hold of their cards is the most important step that makes one eligible to vote.

She said that the 2023 General Election is an important turning point in Nigeria’s political history, but stated that only those who have a clinch on their voter cards can make a decision on the important political process, beginning with choosing who they want as their leaders.

The governor’s wife who noted that it is important for those who registered for the permanent voter card to take a step further by collecting them, stressed that Ndi Anambra must make their civil responsibility count in Nigeria’s political future, with the 2023 polls barely two months away.

She said that the recent announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that over 132,600 permanent voter cards were still uncollected in Anambra State, sends a wrong signal in the campaign to end voter apathy in Anambra State.

Mrs Soludo also urged women in the voting age to endeavour to get their PVCs and move an informal social advocacy for other women who have not gotten theirs to do so immediately.

She further noted that since women form the largest voting percentage in Nigeria, Anambra women must not lag behind, adding that it is important for every onye Anambra to see the forthcoming poll as important as those before it.

The Anambra Governor’s wife also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the new reforms it has introduced into Nigeria’s electoral process, stating that it is her hope that the 2023 elections would be the country’s first point off a shaky democratic journey.
