The political atmosphere in Anambra Central received fresh energy as Labour Party hopeful, Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue, formally entered the senatorial contest after collecting his nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s national secretariat.
The respected cleric and community figure said his decision to seek the Senate seat was inspired by the growing desire among the people for leadership that listens, understands and delivers real results.
Addressing journalists after the exercise, Ikezue said the district deserves a representative who will place the welfare of ordinary people above personal interests and political promises.
He explained that many communities in Anambra Central have waited too long for purposeful representation and stronger attention to the needs of youths, traders, women and struggling families.
According to him, his ambition is built on service, accountability and a deep commitment to speaking boldly for the people at the National Assembly.
“I am stepping into this race because our people deserve to be heard and respected. Leadership should bring hope, development and opportunities closer to the people,” he said.
Ikezue promised to champion programmes that would encourage youth development, support small businesses, improve security and attract projects capable of creating jobs and boosting economic growth across the district.
The Labour Party aspirant also stressed the need for laws that would directly improve living conditions and give communities greater access to opportunities and government support.
Supporters and party faithful who accompanied him described the moment as a major step towards building a more inclusive and people-driven political movement in Anambra Central.
Many of them expressed confidence in his ability to connect with residents at the grassroots level, describing him as a calm, compassionate and visionary leader with a genuine passion for public service.
