In a significant boost to education and youth development, the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Dunukofia Local Government Area, on Tuesday, June 24, 2026, disbursed ₦150,000 each to 14 indigenous students and youths of Dunukofia LGA under its 2026 Scholarship Empowerment Support Programme.
The financial support was presented by the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Kingsley I. Anusi (Bishop), on behalf of YAN Dunukofia LGA. The scholarship initiative was fully sponsored by His Lordship, Archbishop Dr. Onyeka Nzekwesi, Chief Executive Officer of Pineleaf Estate, whose commitment to educational advancement made the programme possible.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Hon. Anusi reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that no talented or hardworking student is denied educational opportunities due to financial constraints.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies, uphold integrity, and strive for excellence in their respective institutions.
“Study diligently, lead with integrity, and make Dunukofia and Anambra State proud wherever you find yourselves. Today you receive support; tomorrow, you should be in a position to extend the same opportunity to others,” he said.
Hon. Anusi also commended the generosity of Archbishop Dr. Onyeka Nzekwesi for investing in the future of young people through education.
He expressed optimism that the scholarship scheme would continue to expand under the leadership of Barr. Chijoke C. Ozumba, Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Area, thereby reaching more deserving students across the council.
The beneficiaries are students of various tertiary institutions, including Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, the University of Calabar
