Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET), a foremost Citizens stakeholders group has passionately appealed to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State to ensure rehabilitation and compensation of citizens who would be displaced as a result of the proposed construction of a flyover around the busy Ekwulobia business district in the State.
Anambra government has said that the construction of Ekwulobia flyover had been awarded and would soon commence.
In a statement signed by Mr Paul Nwosu, Commissioner for Information, it said people whose properties and shops were on the right of way of the flyover or encroached into the road corridor should vacate.
ACSONET Chairman, Prince Chris Azor, while reacting to the appeal by Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) over the plight of their members properties that would be affected by the proposed demolition, enjoined the Governor to be mindful of citizens’ rights and the role of government in protecting lives and property.
However, two victims of the ekwulobia shoo owners, Mr Kenneth Eze and Ifunanya Okafor pleaded with the state government to provide an alternative for those affected because the business is only their source of income.
