Children across Nigeria on Wednesday were celebrated as the nation marked the 2026 Children’s Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognizing the importance, rights and welfare of children in society.

As part of the celebration, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra State Chapter, led by its Chairperson, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, paid a charity visit toTenderLove Orphanage Home to identify with the children and put smiles on their faces through words of encouragement and goodwill.

Speaking during the visit, Comrade Ifejika described children as the future leaders of society and stressed the need for continuous care, love and support for them. She offered prayers for God’s provision upon the orphanage and its proprietors, asking for wisdom, sound health, necessary resources, higher intelligence for the children, long life and fulfillment of destiny.

“We at NAWOJ, are happy to be with you in celebrating this year’s children’s day, we thank God for life, you are the future of tomorrow and we pray for the children, as well as the management and staff of Tenderlove home and community, for God’s continual blessings upon you all,” she stated.

Responding, the Manager of the home, Mrs Helen Eze, expressed profound appreciation to NAWOJ for remembering the children on such a special occasion. She noted that among the children, despite their circumstances, are future presidents, governors, doctors, lawyers and leaders in various fields.

She deeply appreciated NAWOJ for the gesture and revealed that running the orphanage, especially in the present economic situation in Nigeria, is not easy and not something a single individual can do alone, saying that it requires collective effort from the government and well-meaning individuals.

“We at Tenderlove home and community
appreciate NAWOJ for remembering the children of this home, knowing fully well that they have nothing to give in return. However, they always remember their benefactors in prayers,” she noted

Mrs Eze while highlighting the challenges faced by the less privileged children, called on every well meaning individual to out of the abundance they have to always remember homes like Tenderlove home and community.

” These children you see here are wonderful creations of God’s work and their future is bright and by the grace of God and the concerns of people like you, they will fulfill destinies. These are destiny children you see,” she enthused.

The presentation of gift items to the children, cutting of the children’s cake, group photographs, eating, and drinking with the children made the visit a memorable experience. The children, filled with excitement, offered prayers for God’s blessings, elevation, and abundant replenishment upon NAWOJ.
