The First Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, is dead.
One of his son’s Deji, confirmed to newsmen that the nonagenarian passed on Thursday morning in Lagos at the age of 91
Jakande was a former journalist who became governor of Lagos State in Nigeria from 1979 to 1983. He was appointed Minister of Works under the Sani Abacha administration (1993–98).
The former Governor celebrated his 91st birthday on June 23rd, 2020 within his four years in office. He established the Lagos State University.
