The Anambra State Government has arraigned Mrs Anulika Nwokike Onyeanusi over allegations of sexually abusing her two daughters, involving the use of a sex toy, producing pornographic content featuring a child, and incest.
The defendant was arraigned on a 14-count charge before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court of the Anambra State High Court, presided over by Justice Peace Otti.
The Attorney-General of Anambra State, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, led the Director of Public Prosecutions and other legal practitioners from the Ministry of Justice’s Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit in prosecuting the case. Following her arraignment, the defendant was remanded at a correctional centre.
The case follows the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing the defendant sexually abusing one of her daughters with a sex toy. In the footage, the child was reportedly seen crying in pain and pleading with the defendant to stop. The video triggered widespread public outrage and condemnation.
According to the charges, the defendant allegedly subjected her two daughters, aged seven and nine, to sexual abuse and used one of the children in the production of pornographic content for financial gain.
The arraignment underscores the Anambra State Government’s stated commitment to combating sexual and gender-based violence through the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit of the Ministry of Justice. The government has pursued several such cases, with the Attorney-General personally leading prosecution efforts in a number of them.
The court has adjourned the matter until November 27, 2026, for further proceedings.
