The Anambra State Ministry of the Environment and the Anambra State Waste Recyclers Association (ASWRA) has extended deadline for the Anambra Community Plastic Recovery Challenge. News Echo reports that the scheduled date was from 8th of June, 2023, to the 7th of July, 2023, this citizens-driven initiative aimed at significantly reducing plastic waste across the 21 LGAs of the state has garnered immense participation and support from numerous communities, organizations, and individuals.
Commissioner for Environment, Engr. (Dr.) Felix Odimegwu disclosed thos to newsmen on thursday 6th, 2023 through a press statement. Accordimg to the Commissioner, “In light of the overwhelming response and the growing interest in the Campaign, we are delighted to inform you that the Challenge has been extended for another month. The revised end date for the Challenge will be the 8th of August, 2023”.
“This extension allows all communities, organizations, and both corporate and private entities who wish to be a part of this Challenge to join in. We encourage your active involvement in this endeavor”. “As we extend the duration of the Challenge, we are also excited to announce that arrangements are being made to enhance the prize package and improve logistical support for the participants. Further details regarding the extended period will be announced shortly”.
“In the meantime, we urge everyone to continue their dedicated efforts in tackling plastic waste and promoting a cleaner environment”, the statement concluded.
