Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Miller Gajere Dantawaye, psc, has officially assumed office as the 10th substantive Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Police Headquarters, Ukpo, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He succeeds AIG Godwin Iguh Eze, psc(+), who retired from the Nigeria Police Force after attaining the mandatory retirement age, following a distinguished and meritorious career in service.

Born on October 15, 1971, in Ankpa, Kogi State, AIG Dantawaye hails from Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on May 1, 2000, and holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in International Studies.

A seasoned and highly accomplished police officer, AIG Dantawaye has attended several professional and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria. These include the Civil-Military Cooperation Course at the National Defence College, the VVIP Protection Course in Israel, the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos, the Leadership Course at Shere Hills, Jos, and the Combat Operations Course in Gwoza.

He is also a member of Rotary International and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), reflecting his commitment to community service and professional development.

During his over two decades of service, AIG Dantawaye has held several strategic operational, investigative, and administrative positions. His previous appointments include Divisional Crime Officer, Camp Commandant, Divisional Police Officer, Escort Commander to the Vice President, Escort Commander to the President and Squadron Commander of 24 Police Mobile Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), Federal Capital Territory Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Field Studies), Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, Area Commander in Adamawa and Lagos states, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo states, Commissioner of Police (Information Technology), Commissioner of Police (ICT), Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, and most recently, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Operations (FEDOPS), Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, Anambra State, ASP Chidera Oha, in a statement issued on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police and made available to journalists on Wednesday, said AIG Dantawaye, during his maiden address to officers and men of the command, expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor by promoting professionalism, discipline, intelligence-led policing, respect for human rights, and enhanced collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders in the fight against crime and criminality across the zone.

The new AIG also charged officers and personnel under his command to remain dedicated, disciplined, and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force while ensuring effective service delivery and the protection of lives and property.

The Zone 13 Police Command reassured residents of Anambra and Enugu states, which constitute the zone, of its unwavering commitment to sustaining peace, maintaining law and order, and strengthening community partnerships in line with the vision and strategic agenda of the Inspector-General of Police.

AIG Dantawaye is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Bessie Dantawaye, and they are blessed with four children. His hobbies include reading, driving, and humanitarian service.
