The Anambra State government has successfully trained 5,000 youths in vocational and entrepreneurial skills as part of its “One Youth, Two Skills” Scheme pilot phase.
The “One Youth, Two Skills” scheme, which is being implemented in CBN-certified EDIs in partnership with UNIZIK Business School Awka, IDK, ITF, Federal Polytechnic Oko, and other agencies, is designed to help young people acquire the skills they need to start their own businesses or find employment.
400 Master Trainers provided training to participants in a wide range of skills at 400 training centers in all 21 local government areas of Anambra State.
In addition to the training, the government also plans to provide the successful trainees with start-up kits and financial assistance.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, said that the empowerment plans are still being finalized, but that they are scheduled to be implemented by August 31st.
Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our correspondent, Chinwe Okafor, Nwakanma Chidi thanked the Anambra State government while assuring that the what was learnt will be put in to practice for service to humanity.
