46 NIS officers promoted as Comptroller charges them on professionalism

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Anambra State Command has promoted 46 officers to various ranks. The officers included six Deputy Comptrollers, seven Assistant Comptrollers, one Chief Superintendent of Immigration, four Superintendent of Immigration.

Others were; 11 Deputy Superintendent of Immigration, one Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 1 and 16 Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 2.

Performing the ceremony at the Anambra headquarters of the command, the Comptroller, Edirin Okoto urged the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as act of God which they must reciprocate with hard work, diligence to duty as well as exhibiting high sense of professionalism.

Mr Okoto who is barely three months old in Anambra, while congratulating the promoted officers, stressed that getting elevated in the Service doesn’t come easy, ” as far as the service is concerned, you have to work very hard and your ability and dexterity must be recognized to take you to greater heights, ” he noted.

The Comptroller who enjoined those that were not promoted to work harder, put in their best and follow the steps of the successful officers, assured that NIS, Anambra command will keep moving to greater heights.

He thanked God for such a blessed day and commended the guests for finding time to grace the occasion. Speaking with journalists after the ceremony, Patrick Nnadi Mezuma who was promoted from the rank of Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller of Immigration described the day as a very memorable one and thanked God for such honour.

Mr. Mezuma stated that promotion is not only being qualified but there are a lot of indices to consider which includes the federal character, years of service among other things.

He noted that promotion comes with additional responsibility and prayed God to grant him the enablement to discharge his duties as the most senior in the rank. Also speaking, Ifeoma Obiora who was promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Immigration to Deputy Superintendent of Immigration felt excited for her new position.

She promised to continue to be loyal to the service as serving the public has been her passion. The husband of Assumpta Onyekachukwu Ezeani who was promoted from Chief Superintendent of Immigration to Assistant Comptroller of Immigration and Director in Anambra Basic Education, Uchenna Elochukwu Ezeani described his wife as a faithful, dutiful, loving, caring and mother of all his children, maintained that getting promoted is not easy and it brings joy.

An excited Dr Ezeani promised to support his wife to get more promotions. “She has all my support, every encouragement she needs from me and the entire family, she will get it.” Highpoint of the event was the decoration of the officers in their new ranks.
