No fewer than 30 football club owners in Anambra State have commenced enrollment into the Anambra State health Insurance Scheme, for access to cheaper health care services.

The registration into the scheme was conducted by the Anambra Football Association and was flagged off by the caretaker committee chairman of the association, Dr Emeka Okeke.

Dr Okeke stated this during their tour around the twenty-one Local Government Areas in the state, on Monday, 21 September, to reunite the club owners as brothers and inspect areas for the construction of nationwide league One NLO standard pitch.

The chairman opined that there was need to partner the Anambra Health Insurance Agency to prioritize the health status of members of the association which will also cover the family members of the club owners.
While speaking on the desire for the Association to ensure sound mind and physical fitness of her members as it will lead to better results during tournaments, Dr Okeke also noted that the exercise was to ensure that the lives of people who kept football activities alive in Anambra over the years are taken care of.

Contributing, Mr. Dozie Okpalaugo from the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency said that the agency tries to raise the bar at all times to record achievements in all sectors and acknowledged that health is of great importance in sports as most of the sportsmen and women do not have access to quality health care.

Other club owners, Olisa Onuchukwu, Ikenna Osueke, Pope Johnpaul, Onyekachi Obidima in their separate remarks, added that the step by Anambra State Government shows a visionary leadership that understands the essential interventions needed to uplift the place of sports in the state.
