Some physically challenged persons during the weekend took to the roads of Alex Ekwueme axis to express happiness and also demonstrated their love for a man, who had looked after their wellbeing, albeit, silently.
The persons numbering over twenty five in number trooped out in numbers with inscriptions captured in the placards they carried, which revealed it was an appreciation road show to the CEO and Founder of ABU Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation, Chief Abuchi C. Attah, for the special attention he is giving to them in the last couple of years, through the foundation.
Auta Usman, who led the demonstration, said it was their own way of telling the world what Chief Attah has been to them, stating that the CEO wasn’t unaware of their public show.
Usman expressed concern that many of them with disabilities are yet to feel the impact of various social intervention initiatives by both the state and federal government but nevertheless ABU Foundation, as an NGO has been filling the gap.
Chief Attah, who later showed up, said he was touched when informed about the ongoing solidarity by the disabled community and had to leave all that he was doing to come identify with them.
Bringing along some take-home for them and also providing them with cash gift, Chief Attah said he considered them as part of his family and will continue to use the Foundation to assist them.
He therefore announced a yearly educational scholarship for 10 of their children, who are either in Primary or Secondary schools.
