A commercial Mack Trailer, with registration number; AKL876XP, on Wednesday around 10: 45am failed break and rammed into a Mercedes Benz tipper and motorcycle killing one of the driver along the Amaokpala village by Umunze-Ekwulobia road, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State . Our Correspondent gathered that the dead driver was the motorcycle man who just parked dear by to answer Greetings. Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, for sector Commander FRSC Anambra State, RC Margaret B Onabe made this known on Wednesday, 20th Dec, 2023 in a press statement made avaliable to Newsmen.
According to Onabeh, “A fatal road traffic crash was recorded today 20th December, 2023 at few kilometers before Amaokpala village by Umunze-Ekwulobia road, between 3 unidentified drivers: A commercial Mercedes Benz tipper with registration number; XA554AGU, A commercial Mack Trailer, with registration number; AKL876XP, and A commercial Motorcycle with no registration number”. “The probable cause of the fatal crash was as a result of brake failure”.
According to eyewitness report, “the trailer failed break and rammed into the tipper and motorcycle and crashed. Four male adults were involved in the crash. 1 male adult was killed (the bike rider). 3 male adults were rescued unhurt”. “The killed victim was taken to Ajalli General hospital, Ajalli by FRSC rescue team from RS5.37 Umunze Unit Command. The rescue team is on ground managing traffic and ensuring obstruction caused by the crash is cleared”.
The Sector Commander Anambra State Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi comesurate with the family of the dead victim. He admonished motorist to regularly service their vehicles to minimum safety standard before plying the road especially this festive period that the road is very busy.
