The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for religious and political tolerance among citizens across board in order to strengthen unity of the country.

The party made this call through its Imo State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Prince Marcillinus Nlemigbo, while briefing journalists at the party’s office Owerri, on Thursday.

Nlemigbo said despite challenges of insecurity, corruption and graft, ethno religious and political differences the country under the leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari Nigeria has achieved tremendously at 61 years, saying APC has restored the economy of the country as well as winning the war against graft.

According to him, “as we felicitate with Imolites and Nigerians in general on this occasion of Nigeria at 61, we wish to reiterate our call for unity as well as political and religious tolerance among Nigerians. It is our common faith that our strength as a nation lies in diversity. We must continue to respect our ethno religious and political differences to achieve a peaceful and prosperous nation on the sacred foundation of justice, equity and fairness”.

The party appreciated Imo people for their support and unflinching solidarity to the APC led administration championed by Governor Hope Uzodimma, assuring them that their confidence and support to this administration and our party will never be taken for granted, as we remain focused and committed to the overall wellbeing of the people.

The Deputy Chairman of Imo State APC, Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, thanked God for keeping and strengthening them to witness 61 years independence anniversary of Nigeria, stating that “it is a thing of joy that APC and Buhari are still on board driving the vehicle of development.”
