A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), La’ Bukas Foundation has fed no fewer than one hundred persons in Awka, Anambra state capital.
The charity group with the theme “Feeding the Street” last Sunday during the Valentine celebration visited the popular temp site and aroma to show love by sharing food and drinks to as many as possible.
Speaking shortly after the event, the Founder, Okoye Chukwuebuka said the La’bukas Foundation of ‘Feeding the Streets’ was borne out of the benevolence to assist those who have no one to cater for them.
“We started in 2019, helping a little boy and his brother who walked up to me asking for food. Then I realized that there was need to show love and so we decided to mark every February 14th with putting smiles on the faces of people who cannot afford a meal.
Our first “Feed the Street” programme was at Onitsha in 2019, people started to see what we were doing and the motive behind it, now we have gone to Enugu in 2020 and also Awka in 2021 to feed people in the streets”.
“I want to implore people to keep rendering services to humanity. “We might not be able to feed every hungry person out there, but the little lives we touch will be worth it”, he added.
Also speaking, the media manager of the foundation, Miss. Adachukwu Ihennacho noted that it has been an immense joy to be among the team to carry on the La’bukas foundation’s project of feed the street.
“The joy on the faces of the people we fed was so loving and the joy I felt seeing that I am able to touch as many lives as I can was very satisfying”.
The CEO, Lady Mary Variety Stores, Awka, Miss Ike Mary who graced the occasion thanked the foundation and prayed for God’s continual provision to enrich the foundation so that many lives will be touched.
