A group under the aegis of National Forum for South East Presidency (NFSEP) has called on the federal government to adopt zoning to ensure Nigerian’s unity and integration.
The national president, Dr. Patrick Enuneku stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen. According to him, zoning of political offices is not enshrined in our constitution, and that is one major flaw in our constitution”.
“Constitution as presently composed does Not stop us from practicing zoning, neither is it against it, hence by principle of federal character and quota system, our constitution saliently encourages zoning, as equity is the underlining factor in the constitution” He stressed that the ideology behind federal character and quota system, is in tandem with zoning.
“Any political party that adopts zoning, but could not do same for presidency, is deceiving Nigerians.
“Any political party that has the courage to zone their political party executive positions should also adopt zoning of their presidential ticket, if they are serious with the unity of the Nation”.
“NFSEP believes in zoning of both political party offices and the office of the President as a panacea for Nigerian integration, and peaceful coexistence”.
