Tragedy struck on Wednesday 2 at Idoko street, Odoakpu Onitsha,as a carpenter simply identified as Papa Chisom fell to his death while roofing a four storey building.

The said building is being newly constructed.

According to an eye witness, the tragic incident occurred around 5pm in the evening as the labourers working in the building were about to close for the day’s work.

Suddenly they heard a large thud on the floor besides the building and on rushing out to see what it was, they saw the carpenter lying down motionless with bruises and blood stains on his head and body.

When other laborers’ picked him up and rushed him to a nearby hospital he was certified dead. The corpse was taken to a mortuary while his immediate family members were contacted.

Efforts made to reach the owner of the building for comments proved abortive as he could not be reached.
