Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano during the weekend inaugurated the multimillion comprehensive medical centre at Awkuzu, Oyi local government area of the state.
News Echo reports that the facility is the upgraded version of the Primary Health Centre, reconstructed by some indigenes of the community, under the auspices of Adimma Awkuzu
Governor Obiano, who reiterated his administration’s policy on health, hinged on three prongs, including infrastructure, welfare of patients and welfare of health officials, pointed out that his administration started from the grassroot to equip primary health centers across the state.
He expressed satisfaction that through such interventions, five hundred and two primary health centers were equipped, Keke ambulances procured and Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA established, among others, which he noted attracted the recognition and appreciation of the federal government.
The governor used the opportunity to call on well to do Ndi Awkuzu, to enroll their people into ASHIA, commending them for the initiative of upgrading the medical facility and called on everyone to think home.
Governor Obiano however called on people of the community to concentrate attention on youths that indulge in all manner of criminality to assist the law enforcement agencies.
The commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, his Works counterpart, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, Emeritus Archbishop and Emeritus Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa, Traditional Ruler of Awkuzu, Igwe Charles Anikweze where among dignitaries that graced the occasion.
