The National Orientation Agency, Anambra state agency led by the Director Dr Charles Nworji, has called on Government at different levels to empower the most malaria-affected households and communities to enable them play an active role in the fight against malaria at the grassroots.
The Anambra NOA Boss made the plea at his office in Awka during a Press interview on the 2022 World Malaria Day where he also called on the Communities in the State affected by malaria to work closely with the development partners to advance the achievement of other sustainable Development Goals and total elimination of malaria.
He recalled that World Malaria Day is marked annually on the twenty-fifth of April to focus on global attention on malaria and its devastating effects on families, Communities, Social Development, especially in the Sub-Saharan Africa and commended the theme of this year’s event, Harness Innovation to reduce the Malaria disease burden and save lives.
He also challenged the Government in the Sub-Saharan African Countries to urgently align with a call to scale up innovation and development of new tools in the fight against malaria disease in African Countries and Nigeria as well.
While advocating for equitable access to malaria prevention within the context of building health system resilience, Dr Nworji, commended the World Health Organization for its landmark recommendations on the first vaccine against malaria among Nigerian Children.
He however warned Ndi Anambra to desist from dumping of refuse inside flood channels to avoid blocking them or building houses on them.
