The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) has lauded the wife of the Barr Chioma Uzodimma in her efforts in making sure that the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) bill finally scaled through the House of Assembly proceedings after a long heated deliberations that lasted for over one year.
In a release signed by the state chairman of NAWOJ Barr Vivian Ottih, she stated that the VAPP bill being passed into law will promote social and economic growth among citizens in order to play active roles in community life without interference, as the law prohibits all forms of violence including physical, sexual, psychological, domestic, harmful traditional practices, discrimination against persons and to provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishments of offenders.
Ottih also expressed joy in the vision of the wife of the governor Barr. Chioma Uzodimma in reaching out and touching lives of women, youth, children and other vulnerable groups in society not excluding her magnanimity to those who lost their loved ones during the unknown gunmen era in the state.
She pledged the unalloyed support of the women journalists in the state to the programs and activities of the office of the wife of the governor by giving it adequate and necessary publicity.
