The former Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy affairs in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonna has asked the State government to explain how it has managed the allocations from the federation accounts in the last 7 years. Ogbonna, who was also a former Deputy Chief of Staff during the time of Chief Theodore Orji, also accused the State government of owing local government workers months of unpaid salaries.
He also alleged that workers in the State civil service go home with half salaries every month, which according to him, was not the trend during his days as Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs.
He condemned the poor conditions of Abia State pensioners whose monthly stipends allegedly not paid or releases in half, calling for an end to it.
Ogbonna popularly known as Evule Ogu Ibeku (The warrior of Ibekuland) also claimed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu does not listen to elders, which according to him is responsible for current State of things in the State.
The ex- Deputy Chief of Staff who is an influential member of the ruling PDP, also took a swipe at Abia State Commissioner for information, Eze Chikamnayo for the manner he responded to his earlier statements about the State.
Going ahead, Ogbonna threatened to open a Pandora’s box on what transpired in the State in few years past which when opened, would shake the foundations of Abia.
Ogbonna he only released one chapter of the alleged secrets in Abia, promising to open up on the other areas in due cause. Last week, Chief Ogbonna was slammed by Abia State Commissioner for information, Eze Chikamnayo for his recent utterances about the State.
