A group, Partner for Peace (P4P) in Niger Delta, has held a governance and leadership program for her members, where it charged leaders on innovation.

The group held the leadership and governance training retreat last Saturday at the P4P Office in Owerri with members, state and local delegates of the organization fully participating.

In his lecture titled “Leadership, Task and Responsibility of an Executive Member of P4P”, Sharon Ohaka, a facilitator of the program, noted that a good leader must be one who possesses some good qualities of being an administrator, analyst, economist, innovator among others, saying effective leadership centred on guiding, leading, influencing and coordinating both human and material resources.

Ohaka added that the progress of any organization rests mainly on the shoulders of the executive members, explaining that the executive of any organization is likened to a vehicle with various parts with the driver as the coordinator hence the need for good relationship among themselves to achieve the expected success to move forward.

On the issue of conflict analysis, Ohaka stated that issues arising from divergence of opinion, belief, interest, orientation and knowledge base could easily be resolved when the root causes of the conflicts are understood through open mindedness, objectivity, neutrality and good thinking attributes.

Harping on “Resource Mapping/Mobilization and Proposal Writing”, P4P Imo State Coordinator, Chilos Godsent, stressed the need for members and executives to understand the role of funds in the smooth running of the organization even as he led attendants through steps of writing a good proposal and how to map out strategies for fund raising.

Earlier, a 10-man Prevent Team was inaugurated as rapid response team for conflict resolution, mitigation and peace building of P4P.
Members of the Prevent Team included Prince Umanna Anayo, as Chairman, Hon. Israel Onyema, Secretary, Ezeani Chimezie, Anthonia Uzonwanne, Lady Irene Ukanwa, Dike Chiemeka, Engr. Orji Sylvester, Eziada Theresa Akalonu, Oparaugo Emmanuel and Ogechi Onyeanusi as members.
