For the youths of Umueziogwu Uzoagba, Ikeduru Local Governmnet Area of Imo State, there could be no better way of ending the year than bagging a life-changing empowerment. For a year, 2020, that brought the world to her knees, the youths certainly, have something to cheer up for.
The dawn of Monday, December, 14,2020, came like every other one, but before the sun could set, fate had already released what it had in stock for the trio of Ndubuisi Owuama, Chibuzo Uche and Chima Akujobi, indigenes of the community. They had earned a brand new motorcycle each, and of course, a guarantee for a better 2021, courtesy of a philanthropist par excellence, Clan Chief Chimezie Kingsley, the Ebubemba Ikeduru).
It was the second phase of Chief Kingsley’s empowerment scheme for the youths of Umueziogwu, his home town. The first phase of the scheme had featured 12 beneficiaries who received a brand new motorcycle each.
Passionate and dedicated about the welfare of humanity, the scheme, however, is one of Chief Kingsley’s many empowerment programmes, aimed at bettering the lot of his people and beyond. Having weathered the storms of life to achieve a breakthrough, Chief Kingsley decided to dedicate his entire life to lifting out of the doldrums, as many people as possible.
Buoyed by the fact that a man’s greatness is nothing unless it is connected with the liberation of his people, Ebubemba Ikeduru, an uncompromising apostle of hard work, dedication and discipline, magnificently reached out to his community dwellers and made life-saving food stuff donations to the residents of Diamond Estate, Umuguma, Owerri.
As a man that understands the practical implication of joblessness and its nauseating impact on youths, Ebubemba then moved and establish companies, not for the sole aim of profit making, but as a veritable means of empowerment opportunity for people, particularly the youths.
Receiving the motorcycles, the joy of the beneficiaries knew no bounds, even as the indigenes of the community, who gathered at the village square, rained accolades on the benefactor for his ever flowing milk of human of kindness.
In a speech, the chairman, Ebubemba Empowerment Scheme, Mr. Charles Anosike, disclosed that aside the donation of motorcycles, Chief Kinsley has commenced the establishment of an agro allied industry, where most youths of the community and the entire Ikeduru would be empowered to engage in agricultural businesses.
He noted that the industry was targeted towards fighting the high rate of unemployment in the state, nay the country. “By next year, Ebubemba has lots of packages for the youths of this community, this is just the beginning”, he stated. “We had given out 12 motorcycles at the first phase. This is the second phase because we need to empower more youths”, the chairman submitted.
In their separate remarks, the three beneficiaries of the second phase expressed overwhelming joy that they were considered for the empowerment and showered praises on the Ebubemba for remembering them.
They promised to keep to the terms of the agreement and to maintain the motorcycles. The trio described Ebubemba as a rare breed and special blessing to mankind and prayed God to continue to bless him so the blessings would continue to flow to indigenes of the community and beyond.
