An Mbaise born United States of America based philanthropist, Mrs. Ihejirika Theodora, has restructured and renovated 12 classroom blocks at Umuawada Community School, Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise.
Handing over the renovated classroom blocks officially to the school management last week, Ihejirika noted that she undertook the measure in order to create conducive teaching and learning environment for teachers and pupils of the school, saying the feat will encourage children to acquire basic knowledge that will project them positively in life.
According to Ihejirika, “when I came here last year, the school building was in a deplorable state. I was worried with the condition of this building and the children there. These classrooms have no windows, no doors. So, I went back and discussed with my husband, my sisters in Christ to see what we can do and decided to renovate the school. To give children conducive learning environment was what prompted us”.
The worthy daughter of Umuawada Onicha Ezinihitte Mbaise while reflecting that her foundation: Wings of Mercy INC USA, partners with Strong Women of God USA, Golden Hope Foundation and several individuals to give humanitarian assistance to people across the world, assured that she will do more to add to the good and development of the society.
The Executive Chairman of Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), Her Excellency, Lady Dr. Ada Okwuonu, who was represented by Ifeoma Okereke, commended Wings and Mercy INC USA for supporting the pupils and the government. “You have done noble. You have proved that you have the interest of your people at heart. Thank you for supporting the government. On behalf of the governor of Imo State, I salute you for remembering that education for all is the responsibility of all. God bless your efforts and your children. Government will continue to welcome similar gestures from well meaning people of this area and the state in general”.
