The National Youth Service Corps in Ebonyi has sought enhanced synergy between it and corps employers in Ebonyi for the benefit of corps members.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Mercy Bamai, made the call while welcoming participants to the NYSC/ corps employers’ workshop in Abakaliki. Bamai said that though Ebonyi was hospitable, corps employers needed to enhance their obligations towards corps members.

“This is part of their obligations towards creating enabling environment for these young patriots to render selfless service to the country. “We all know that if corps members are properly motivated, they perform well in their duties.

The state coordinator said that the workshop was the converging of stakeholders to deliberate on ways of improving the services of the scheme in the state.
“The theme of this year’s workshop which is : ‘optimizing the NYSC/ corps employers partnership in national development in the context of the new normal,” is apt and relevant.
“This is because the scheme under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has been rebranded towards becoming a first class organization.

In his remarks the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala commended the NYSC for their contributions in developing the state and pledged the continued state government’s support to the scheme.
Ugbala who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the office, Dr.Augustine Nwuzor urged the corps members to develop their abilities to stand the chance of being retained by their employers.
