The new president, of University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA), Dr. Chinedu Nnaemeka Mbalisi has emerged with a charge for him to galvanize members for progress.
The lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has emerged for Awka branch.
While, Professor Nkechinyere Nwokoye of the Department of Igbo, African and Asian Studies, will serve as Vice President of the Association.
Other members of the new Exco are Tochukwu Ifejika, journalist with Voice of Nigeria (VON) as Secretary; Ugochukwu Anigbogu, Assistant Secretary; Grace Joseph, Financial Secretary; Ifeyinwa Ekeh, Treasurer; Joseph Umudu, Social Welfare; Ogemdi Ozoemenam, a journalist with Odenigbo 99.1fm Obosi and Financial Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra state Council, will serve as Public Relations Officer (PRO) of UNAA Awka Branch.
The event which took place at ABS Film Academy Hall, Awka had in attendance, past executive members of the associations as well as friends and families who turned out to grace the occasion.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Dr. Chinedu Mbalisi, while appreciating and assuring the association of all-inclusive governance said “We have come to serve and not to rule. We will not betray you. We know you expect much from us, God being our helper, we will make you proud. Your unalloyed support will strengthen us. Your sacrifices and contributions we solicit for to succeed. Ours is an all inclusive team. UNAA belongs to all of us. The door is open for all beautiful ideas towards the growth of UNAA, Awka branch”.
Meanwhile, the immediate past President, Dr. Ngozi Ulogu of the Department of English language (UNIZIK), thanked the MD/CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Nze Uche Nworah for providing the venue and members of UNAA Awka Branch for attending the event. She had stepped aside after presenting the account of her stewardship within the years under review.
However, a three-man electoral committee was constituted which included Prof. S.C Egwim, Lady Chukwudum Uche (former president) and Mr. Mark Ekwealor.
