Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, has held its 43 matriculation ceremony for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) with over 5000 students out of the over 100,000 candidates who applied for admission were being admitted into the school in various programmes.
Speaking, the Rector of the polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa charged the students to shun anti social behaviours, immorality, calling on them to work hard to achieve academic and moral excellence to become useful even after graduation.
The Rector who appreciated the students for conducting themselves orderly and responsibly, advised them to always respect and abide by the rules and regulations of the polytechnic.
“Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri is the second polytechnic in the country. Ensure that you are found worthy in character and learning. It is to the glory of God that we are all alive, hale and hearty here to witness the matriculation of our ND and HND Regular and Part-time Programmes”.
“By the grace of God my administration has ushered in new ideas and innovation- driven methods of approach to ensure peace, development and progress of the institution. Our new students have formed our pioneer corps in implementing our vision of progress and growth for the institution. You will also subsequently take your place appropriately when the role is called”, Arimanwa stated.
He instructed the students to imbibe entrepreneurial skills, involve in extra curriculum activities like sports, assuring that the school has a cordial working relationship with landlords to maintain security of the students in their various hostels or lodges.
