As the second Imo State-owned University, Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ogboko, Ideato South, commenced full academic activities on 8th of March, 2022, the management of the institution, has called on parents and guardians to enrol their children and wards into the school to enable them achieve quality education that will help brighten their future and existence.
The management noted that the school is still open to admitting students till matriculation ceremony in April, 2022, even though academic activities had started fully with management and students enjoying the serene and conducive university environment.
This request for students to enrol in KOMU, was made by the Vice Chancellor of KOMU, Prof. I.N.S. Dozie, through the Acting Director of General Studies, KOMU, Dr. Mrs. Chinomso Patricia Dozie, while given a goodwill message on the occasion of Imo State Chapter of Stand Up for Women Society, held in Owerri, last week.
The Vice Chancellor stressed that “management has realized the innate abilities of women to get things done and accordingly, have assigned them special responsibilities in our efforts to reposition the institution for global competitiveness and world- class status”.
He emphasized, “we gladly request you all to bring your children to receive quality education and mentoring for self- actualisation and for the course of nation building. Though we have commenced teaching our fresh men and women since 8th of March 2022, we are still open to admitting students till our matriculation ceremony in April, 2022. Why ask your child to write JAMB again? Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University is ready for him or her”.
Dozie, who said he is “mindful of the great sacrifices of renowned women who have championed this course from time immemorial”, stated that “various stages of life are punctuated by different milestones and this, the inauguration of Imo State Chapter of this great Society is one of such milestones”.
Therefore, the VC advised the women to always stand up for their rights while working collectively to defeat gender imbalance, stereotype, stigmatization, subjugation, suppression, oppression, relegation, humiliation, discrimination marginalization, saying bridge building where men and women of goodwill are created, nurtured and transformed for a progressive family, community and society is germane.
