Imo State Universal Basic Education (IMSUBEB) in conjunction with Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), have organized a three- day training/sensitization for primary one and two school teachers and evaluators in Imo State on Jolly Phonics to imbibe pupils with good academic knowledge so that they complete favourably with their counterparts across the world.
The program was held at the City Primary School, Owerri, on Monday, with the Universal Learning Solution Initiative (USLI) being the training provider.
In her remarks, Acting Chairman, IMSUBEB, Mrs. Stella Ukagba urged the teachers to concentrate in the training to gain relevant knowledge to be able to teach the pupils well. She thanked government for approving the training. She was represented at the flag- off of the program by Anoruo Chinyere, Director, Teachers Development (IMSUBEB).
Training Manager (Jolly Phonics), Engr. Innocent Nwosu, added that the sensitization was aimed at training primary one and two teachers across Imo State so that they teach the pupils how fast to read and write good English.
Nwosu maintained that “our target is to impact the pupils with the ability to have solid academic background to be able to compete favourably with their counterparts across the world. The unique aspect of the training is the multi- sensory approach to learning which suites the children very well”.
