To enhance qualitative teaching and learning among teachers and pupils, the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), has distributed educational materials to public primary schools to all the twenty seven local government areas of Imo State.

Flagging off the distribution ceremony at the Board premises on Thursday in Owerri, the Executive Chairman of IMSUBEB, Her Excellency, Dr. Ada Okwuonu, noted that the feat will ensure more knowledge to the teachers to enable them teach the pupils effectively in order to promote quality education in Imo State.
She noted that some of the educational materials were brought by the Universal Basic Education (UBEC) hence the payment of counterpart fund by Imo State government which she mentioned has the interest of teachers and pupils at its heart.

These educational materials included some library books (novels), English books (primary 1, 2, 3), mathematics books (primary 1, 2, 3, 4), basic science books, information technology books, social studies books and nursery rhymes (nursery 1, 2, 3), adding that there are also instructional materials for the teachers.

“These instructional materials when roundly distributed and effectively used will increase the knowledge, vocabulary and fluency of pupils in English, mathematics, science and technology. As you can see, our warehouses are filled with educational materials, a clear testimony of the value of the 3R government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma for education. Teachers should ensure they have stores where they keep these materials to safeguard them. It is left for the teachers to teach and enjoy while pupils learn as to have bright future for a more better Imo State”, the Chairman maintained

The IMSUBEB Secretary, Hon. Chidiebere Egbuo and the Board member for Okigwe Zone and Chairman, LGA Public Enlightenment IMSUBEB, Hon. Bright Nwachukwu, affirmed that the materials will be fairly distributed to the schools through the Education Secretaries, saying the distribution started with Oguta, Oru East, Oru West.
Describing the feat as encouraging, IMSUBEB Board member representing Ministry of Education, Lady Dorothy Mirikwe, stated that government has done well by giving out the relevant academic materials to the schools which she stressed should be consolidated for enhanced teaching and learning in the state.
