The nine month industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been suspended
The decision to suspend the action followed marathon meeting held between delegation of the federal government and ASUU in Abuja.
Though the union was said to have accepted the government offer conditionally, ASUU president, Prof. Biodun Oduyemi, said that the salaries are currently being paid but not all.
He said that the timeframe is considered elastic as there are some items that will be addressed from this month till March 2021 but a monitoring mechanism are built in under this agreement in order to ensure strict adherence.
According to him also, IPPIS is no longer an issue as government has agreed that ASUU should adopts the system it has already developed for payment but that government emphasized on the need for prompt payment.
On this agreement, it is their prayers that government should maintain her own part of the bargain. It is also their prayers that non of their members should be victimized.
