Before now, crime was seen as taboo. Those who got involved were avoided like plague and sometimes excommunicated/ostracized from community level.
Today, crime has become a household name to the risk of training the children. The other day, we heard a child of 5 years talking about how she will not come out of the house because of kidnapping. What a dangerous dimension!!
Different names have been given to crime, from stealing to; kidnapping, banditry, boko Haram, unknown gunmen, robbers, among others. We can not continue to harbor criminals that make the country/states ungovernable.
Crime is crime, no matter what name is called, criminals must be allowed to face the full weight of the law. The federal and state governments must not pamper criminal A and deal decisively with criminal B. This is not the way to handle situation of crime that has reached such dangerous dimension.
Another worrisome dimension of crime is that, today, we have sponsors of crime for ransomic gains. Those behind those who make the country come negatively in the eyes of the international community as one of the worst countries in terms of insecurity must be fished out and made to go through the wrath of the law.
If the newest generation grows with this generational dementia of crime, it means that the country will dissolve itself by what it ought to have dealt with ab initio.
The security agencies must make it a point of duty to end these dangerous dimensions of criminality and put aright all those things that threaten the existence of the country.
The laws made by the legislature across board to stem the tide of criminality must be put in place.
News Echo thinks that the laws that are made against the stoppage of criminality must be invoked. It is bad for the same law we make to diminish criminality is left to diminish us because of non-practicality of same.
