A senior lecturer of Archeology and Tourism department, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Dr. Chigozie Odum, has been suspended over sexual harassment of four female students in the university.
The university authority made the decision in a letter signed by the university’s deputy registrar, Mrs. Achiuwa F.C and sent to the defaulting lecturer.
The letter reads in part, “Following the accusation of sexual harassment made against you by a female student in the department of Archaeology and Tourism, the Vice-Chancellor has directed that you be suspended from duty immediately”. “You are hereby suspended from duty with immediate effect, “the deputy registrar ordered.
Part of the letter reads, “You should stay away from duty until the final determination of the allegation against you”.
“You should also handover any university’s (UNN) property in your custody to the head of department Archeology and Tourism”. “The bursar is by a copy of this letter, advised to place you on half salary pending final disposal action on your case, “Achiuwa stated.
