Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Chukwuebuka Nnamani and Mr. Temple Amanna in connection with the murder of two siblings.
News Echo gathered that the deceased siblings, Master Bright and Victory Osuagwu were allegedly strangled on Easter Good Friday in Osisioma LGA, Abia State.
The Police PRO in the state, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the arrest to News Echo on Thursday.
He said that Nnamani’s arrest followed an unbelievable train of events resulting in his alleged co-conspirator, Amanna, who aided him to kill the two boys, returning to Osuagwu’s house after the incident.
Ogbonna said that after the shock of the killing of their children sent Mr. Osuagwu and his wife to the hospital emergency ward, their apartment was without anybody.
He said that the situation paved the way for one of the conspirators, Amanna, who lived in the neighbourhood to return to rob Osuagwu’s house.
Ogbonna said Amanna was robbing the house when a neighbour heard some noise inside Osuagwu’s apartment, ran and held the escaping thief while shouting for neighbours to help him. He said after they held Amanna down, he later confessed that Nnamani was paid N80, 000 to kill the two Osuagwu boys from where he gave him, Amanna, N20,000. Ogbonna said he told the Police that he watched out for Nnamani during the act to ensure no one entered the place to see him doing the dirty act.
Ogbonna said after being apprehended, Amanna led the neighbourhood people to arrest Nnamani who wanted to run away but was held down by his father until the people rounded him up and invited the police. He said the police have commenced full investigation into the matter and would soon get to the roots of the case.
Mr. Chima Osuagwu, the father of the two boys, who is a trader at Ariaria international market has pleaded with Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu not to allow the killers of his two children escape justice.
Osuagwu and his wife after they were released from hospital for health issues resulting from the murder of their two children in one day, ran from their house fearing possible attacks from the killers of their two children. The father of two children strangled to death allegedly by Nnamani and others said the suspects told the police that they were paid to kill the children.
He however said that until now, the police have not told him who the suspects said paid them N80, 000 to murder his children.
Osuagwu said that the delay in getting the name of such a person whose lead role led to the death of his children was a threat to their own lives.
He also said the delay in revealing the name of the sponsor of his children’s murder could truncate the process of justice for his family. Osuagwu said he and his wife are now in hideout and afraid to return to their house until the sponsor of the crime is found in order for the murderers not to return and kill him and his wife.
