Two young boys aged 25 years have been intercepted and arrested by police operatives for being in possession of one locally made pistol along Amawbia-Nibo road, in Awka south local government area of Anambra state.
Anambra Police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a press release made available to newsmen on Monday, 20th, May, 2024.
According to Ikenga “Following the rejigged Personnel Operational Positioning in the State Capital, Awka, by the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, Police Operatives on 19/5/2024 by 12:25 pm intercepted two young men in a tricycle along Amawbia, Nibo road and recovered one locally made pistol and a tricycle”.
“The Armed men both 25 years of age are Chigozie Echiebu of Urum Village, Awka LGA, and Edwine Emmanuel of Nkerefi Village in Nkanu East of Enugu State. The suspects have provided Police with information on their mode of Operations and names of other gang members which is already aiding the ongoing investigation”.
“To this end, the CP, directs that the investigation be widened and deepened to bring to book all those connected, and the case should be charged to court on the Conclusion of the investigation”.
