Abia State Police Command has said that it has recovered a Toyota Sienna SUV abandoned by fleeing gunmen who attacked Nkporo Police Divisional Office in Ohafia LGA of Abia.
Nkporo is the hometown of Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu.
The Command in a statement signed by its PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna said that the recovery was made possible by a combined efforts of Police and the military officers who responded to the night attack.
He explained that on February 26, 2023 at about 9: pm, some gunmen numbering about 20 attacked the Nkporo Divisional Police Office with three Toyota Sienna vehicles.
During the invasion, the Police PPRO stated that three Constables on duty were injured by the gunmen, adding that the hoodlums broke into the Police armoury where they stole 1 AK 47 riffle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.
The gunmen, according to the Police image maker also stole 2 riot gunners containing unascertained number of ammunitions while also stealing Police uniform and shoes.
He noted that it was the combined efforts of Police and the military that led to the recovery of the Toyota Sienna SUV , service uniform and shoes which were abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
Ogbonna also stated that the three injured Policemen were taken to the hospital but one of them was later discharged.
