A young man whose identity was not immediately unraveled was beaten to pulp by an angry mob along the popular Douglas road (near Mbaise road junction), yesterday Thursday, October 13, 2022, for allegedly snatching a cellphone from a lady.

The cellphone thief was said to be working with a gang when luck ran out on him after snatching the young lady’s telephone handset.

An eyewitness who spoke to our reporter, on arriving the scene said the cellphone thief is one of the notorious robbers who rob road users along the Douglas road especially from St. Paul’s Catholic Church gate to Ama-Awuasa axis.

According to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity, the robber snatched the cellphone from the young lad who was walking along the busy road and quickly threw it to a gang member who made away with the telephone immediately and the unlucky was apprehended when made to escape.

The angry mob was said to have descended on him when he bluntly refused to call back the escaped gang member who was in custody of the cellphone to return the cellphone to the owner.
