Youths of Kula Kingdom in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State have raised the alarm over an ongoing spillage from the facility operated by a multi-national oil company.

President-General of Kula Youths Organizations, Worldwide, Japus Ekine in a telephone interview with our correspondent lamented that many communities of Kula Kingdom are now affected by oil spillage noting that the incident is not a sabotage, but a mechanical error on the part of the company.

Ekine decried the negative impact of the hydrocarbon spillage on the people and the ecosystem.

He said that with the current situation, his people will not be able to live their normal lives, adding that farming and fishing including other activities have completely become standstill.

Japus appealled o the Federal and state governments to intervene and save the people of Kula Kingdom and their environment.

He said if the government fails to urgently intervene to arrest the situation, it may become worst and result to more agitation and unrest from young people.
