In recognition of his integrity and capacity to help promote development in Irete autonomous community, a frontline community leader, Chief Aginwa Azuoma, has been conferred with a cabinet chieftaincy title by the traditional ruler of the community, HRH, Eze Ethelbert C. Ekwelibe.

The ceremony which took place as part of the event marking the 2022 Igbanta cultural festival of the community was held last week with the illustrious sons and daughters of the community, as well as dignitaries from across the state, gracing it.

Speaking immediately after the honor, the honoree, Azuoma, said that the conferment of the chieftaincy title on him by Eze Ekwelibe was well deserved, as the traditional ruler described him as triple chief, noting that as the cabinet chief representing Umuoyo village, his people will benefit immensely from his role as he will always stand on truth and handle all matters justly, fairly, irrespective of one’s social standing in the community, saying he shall be fair to all persons as the traditional ruler had instructed.

The Umuoyo village head added that he would work hard to make his village and Irete community a peaceful and attractive place to live and do business by everyone.

Also conferred with the cabinet chieftaincy title is Pastor Leo Okpe, who now represents Umuoma village in Eze Ekwelibe’s cabinet. Okpe vowed that he would devote his time and capacity to justify his nomination by his people to represent them in the Eze’s cabinet.

Okpe used the occasion to appreciate the traditional ruler, Eze Ekwelibe, for his efforts at reviving the Igbanta cultural festival which he described as having a building effect on the people of Irete.
