Indigenes of Ngor-Okpala local government area of Imo State, have called on the state government to quickly repair the dilapidated road that leads to their local government council headquarters.
The people also urged Imo State government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma to reconstruct all dilapidated roads within the locality to ease traffic, encourage productivity: commerce and industry, education and social activities at the area so that poverty, crime and insecurity will reduce drastically.
This request was made by the people through Chief Chidi Emenike, a community leader and Mr Val Eke, a teacher, when they spoke to News Echo at the area last week.
The people who regretted the deplorable nature of roads at the locality, told government to urgently repair the road to save them from excruciating pains and agonies they pass through on daily basis, saying virtually all roads at the area are bad, obstructing business activities.
According to Chief Emenike, roads in Ngor-Okpala are bad and they hinder productivity. We want government to quickly intervene so that we live comfortably and happily. As a community leader, I challenge government to demonstrate good governance to Ngor-Okpala because good road promotes production as people will always have easy access to farm, convey their farm produce to markets as well as do other productive ventures that can put food on their tables including having comfort”.
With Mr. Val Emenike adding that “deplorable roads at the locality discourages pupils and students from going to school regularly and even punctually. The road that leads to the LGA headquarters ought to be smooth and better, but I wonder what our government is doing that we have bad roads all over Ngor-Okpala. Since there is no electricity and functional healthcare at the area, we should have good roads that can encourage us to be productive. Crimes and insecurity happen at Ngor-Okpala today due to lack of infrastructure. Then, what is government doing with our resources”.
