To stem crime and violence which debilitate the society, Chairman, Imo State Traditional Institution, His Royal Majesty, Eze Emmanuel Okeke (Ochiri Ozuo), has called on government/politicians, traditional rulers, town unions, youth and religious bodies to come together with attainable ingredients for solution and normalcy.

Eze Okeke made the call while addressing the traditional rulers at their Secretariat in Owerri last week when they received the newly crowned monarchs and a team of UNICEF and the Red Cross who came on peace advocacy.

The monarch who said although crime and violence are not peculiar to Imo State, urged all traditional rulers and stakeholders to stand tall, speak truth to power, conscientise the youth as to shun crime and violent activities while supporting government’s policies and programs to help make lives more meaningful and bearable for all persons irrespective of social status, political party affiliation or community, adding “we can only live well, peacefully, comfortably and progressively when we harness our God- given potentials and gifts”.

Urging Governor Hope Uzodimma to create more employment and empowerment opportunities to positively engage youths to reduce crime and insecurity in the state, the traditional ruler of Amaifeke Ancient Kingdom, Orlu local government area, said there is need for “us to work hard and collectively to ensure security of life and property in Imo State. Let everybody have sense of security, sense of belonging and spirit of cordiality as we forge ahead to make Imo State a haven”.
