Road is a critical infrastructure in Imo State but it is not certain that the present government is in realization of this. They are content with making pronouncements and what they will do to transform everywhere but never get to walk their talks. Politicians indeed will never stop to deceive the populace. Sometimes I wonder if they ever credit the people with any degree of intelligence that they know that they are not fooled all of the times as their minds keep deceiving them
Many times Uzodimma and his commissioner for works have trumpeted of their wonders on the road when the dry season sets in. Now the fair weather is here what is actually happening. We are not seeing any work going on. Could it be that they went on break to enjoy the holidays? That is the most likely reason we will be given.
Reports and observations indicate that the contractors have gone off the roads. Work is not going on anywhere. Most of the major roads they have been trumpeting that will get attention are still lying prostrate. What is ‘holding dog to die’ on the much publicized Okigwe and Orlu roads awarded to a so called reputable construction firm. I pray it doesn’t go the way of Julius Berger.
It will not be long the rains will come again and we remain in the same boat of buck passing. One year has cycled and we are still telling stories on Imo roads. The performance in relation to promises and resources is below par. What about the Ramp roads? The story is not any different. Our governor how far?
