There are strong speculations that the era of Gov Hope Uzodimma will any moment this week be consigned to the dustbin of history. The speculations are anchored on the Supreme Court judgment expected to be delivered this week. Some hold the view that the judgment will be made today while others say it is either the 14th or 15th.
Decision will be given on the Philip Umeadi (SAN) matter asking the Supreme Court to interpret and give expression to its ruling of December 20, 2019 during which it ruled that Uche Nwosu is the authentic candidate of APC but also ran under the ticket of Action Alliance. Having disqualified the rightful candidate of APC the question is how did Uzodimma emerge?
It would be recalled that Uzodimma got into power following the spectacular and shocking ruling which saw a man in the number 4 position emerge first. In that decision for inexplicable reasons Uzodimma received in excess over a hundred thousand votes from God knows where which helped to impose him on Imo people.
Since then he has lived with the tag “Supreme Court gov” which he has fruitlessly struggled to fight off. Just like in the typical tradition of the Igbo where robbers and men of questionable character are stigmatized by their kinsmen it is doubtful if Uzodimma’s government has sunk well with Imo people. The pointers are very clear.
He has been struggling by every imaginable way to push himself and his administration into the minds of the people but it remains an uphill task. Someone described it like squeezing water out of stone. Sadly, the situation has not been helped by the integrity deficit, corruption, ineptitude and mediocrity of the man from Omuma. It is very clear he was not prepared for leadership.
If Uzodinmma gets booted out this week, to Imolites it would be good riddance to bad rubbish. It would be a good sigh of relief. Many who have prayed and wished the exit of the regime would do thanksgiving. Since the administration emerged it has been a tale of woe even for the aides of the governor who cannot secure their benefits. They are just there suffering and smiling.
Many are begging for the return of Ihedioha which is subject to the ruling of the Supreme Court. It will not surprise many if the learned gentle men of the law send another shock waves beyond the common expectations because the ordinary folks in the street have no idea of what is in the bowel and heart of the law.
Is Uzodimma going? Will Imo work again? Feelers from the street indicate that Imo people are happy with whoever comes in so long Uzodimma goes. Uzodimma going?????????
