In the yore days, Igbo man is known for cultural celebration that especially adorns the nooks and crannies of festive landscape.
People from far and near came back home just to witness one cultural event or another. I remember those days when I was a young boy, I used to perform one traditional roles that made people, big and small to travel all the way from Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Rivers among other places to witness and relish the cultural display.
That’s the spirit of the Igbo man. He does not play with his culture because the culture is the man. A man who doesn’t have culture is akin to throwing a paper on the water, it neither floats nor sinks, it rather dissolves.
Very recently, those cultural values that keep the Igbo man knitted have been eroded, vitiated and forgotten, often times replaced with trivialities that do not reminisce the things that we stand for.
More often than not, the yuletide season is celebrated in emptiness with nothing to remember it for, except for the birth of Jesus Christ. If the birth of mere man is replete with celebrations, how much more the birth of the Saviour of the world whose reason, the season is meaningful. Those cultural values and events form part of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, we can’t let go.
Having realized all these, Clan Chief (Prof.) Kingsley Chimezie, Ebubemba Ikeduru in a bid to rejuvenate those cultural values upon which the unity of Igbo man is anchored, decided to reawaken the consciousness of our cultural celebration.
Ebubemba Ikeduru comes to enliven and culturize the entirety of Imo State, flowing from Uzoagba Ikeduru his country home.
On the 30th December 2021, those cultural consciousness that have been in low ebbs, deviating from what the Igbo man is known for, those yuletide seasons where the dryness is ocassioned by the standing of akimbo of those who manage to come back for the season, in disappointment of the emptiness of events. Those days are gone as Ebubemba Ikeduru celebrates his two years’ Ofala anniversary.
This Ofala anniversary has got the capacity, potentiality and impeccability of reawakening the cultural consciousness of the canvass of the Igbo man.
