When an opinion is held by so many people it is usually held to be true. The usual refrain if you challenge the status quo is you can’t be more right than the majority, that it is the way it has been.
Very sadly, majority of us have come to accept many views because a greater number of the people are canvassing it without pausing to reflect the veracity of such widely held opinion. One of the local slangs is that majority carries the vote and this has been the guiding principle of many.
This scenario is more prevalent or manifest in religious beliefs. We have been so cowed to believe even the most unthinkable because we are so indoctrinated to believe that everything comes from God. Whatever comes from God our men of God tells us that we should not question. We are made to accept everything by faith. It leaves one to wonder why we are told that man is a rational human being.
Are we given sense to rationalize other things except religious matters?
Perhaps this is the reason Karl Marx stated that religion is opium you administer on people and you put them to sleep to have your ways.
Nowhere is this statement more realistic than in the black world. It worries me to no end how our people have bandied about untruths and misleading concepts which portends grave Karmic implications for those who canvass it and even those who are consumed by it.
Even the so called elites and men of letters are not spared in this catastrophe.
It pricks the mind when I hear preachers campaign that people should confess their sins and they would be forgiven if they repent and accept Jesus as their Lord and personal savior. They go on to support their claim by quoting certain sections of the bible which also does not justify it. This is grossly misleading.
People have had to rely on this liberty to commit atrocities in the vain hope that they would confess and be forgiven,
What precipitated this piece was the expression of an aggrieved woman who was pained to the marrow over an ill treatment she got from family members. She was pained that she blurted out, “I will show them my own wickedness far greater than their own and when I am done I will beg God to forgive me.”
I felt pity for her because she little realizes that she will fall into the hole she has planned to dig and that is the same way many of us have gone ahead to manage their hurts.
Espousing on the topic above is likely to attract flurry of attacks but the truth must be told no matter whose ox is gored. Repented people are still confronted by the seeds they sowed.
It is never uhuru after confession. Have we cared to find out why bad things happen to people which some of us describe as extremely good. They are only reaping bad seeds sown in the past.
Ditto for bad people who seemingly appears to be enjoying God’s blessings.
Christ did not die for your sin; follow the teachings you will arrive. Blood of Jesus did not wash away anybody’s sin as we have been misled to believe. Christ was only a way shower for the people who were there during his sojourn on earth. We should remember that God is never mocked, because as a man sows so does he reap. The law is adamantine and holds true for everyone. This might sound offending to someone’s faith but the truth must be stated.
One serious challenge in the teachings of Christianity is its failure to teach the laws of Karma and reincarnation. This has held people back spiritually by a deliberate policy to deny their existence. Christian teachings hold on to a one-life time theory which makes for a lot of problems. It does not provide explanations to such issues as deformed babies, injustices, failed marriages, ill health, poverty, accidents, etc.
Fact is part of our lives are dependent upon fate, yet fate, or destiny is merely a personal creation made by a lifetime of choices. The totality of life is the choices we have made. We make our choice and our choice makes us because we take responsibility for the outcome and no one else. Little wonder, it is said that “all is in its rightful place, everything is at the exact position it deserves in life.”
